The artist has handed over the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound award cash to the MVT, which functions to save the United Kingdom's small music venues.

Fender was awarded the award on mid-October as his latest record People Watching was declared the best record of the past year.

Fender has decided to give the cash to the MVT, in appreciation of the essential function grassroots venues played in his beginning days.

"I wouldn't be doing this success if it hadn't been for all the gigs I did around the region, and beyond, when I was beginning," said Sam Fender. "These locations are iconic, but they are in difficulty."

Since the start of 2023, at least 150 of these venues have permanently closed – about 16 percent of the total UK scene.

In the last year, major artists such as the band Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the trust in its attempts to help venues survive, by applying a modest fee to their admission fees, which goes to help local stages.

Fender also took part, raising more than £100,000 on his live tour to support numerous small stages across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The money helped spaces that were confronting potential shutdown due to difficulties caused by water damage, fire incidents and personal losses, as well as licensing issues, legal disputes and neighbor objections.

Some locations were granted financial assistance in upgrading facilities and sound and lighting systems that directly benefitted artists and concertgoers.

"The concept that money from performances in large arenas supports the local stages, where it all starts for performers like me, is just sensible," the star has stated.

Fender is far from the only musician to contribute his honor funds to good deeds.

Back when Pulp received the trophy in the year 1996 for their album Different Class, vocalist the singer announced that the act would give their cash to the charity War Child.

In 2002, musician she divided her prize between multiple organizations, such as the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"I also contributed a thousand pounds to my local community centre, to their gymnastics program, because I did gymnastics when I was growing up and they lacked better apparatus," Ms Dynamite shared with the media.

Two years ago, they contributed their funds to the community center that developed their group, alongside other independent music bodies.

And winners that year M People gave their winnings to a charity for MS after a acquaintance was diagnosed the disease.

"The victory was ample," stated singer Small. "The cash was the extra but we didn't need the cherry, because we had the honor. So our success impacted somebody else's life."

In the past week, the MVT announced it had rescued several grassroots venues in south-east England, by placing them under local control.

The first in the city and The Croft in Bristol were purchased under the public acquisition program, which is backed by a national body and supporters who acquire "stakes" in the properties.
